Why a Referendum Now?
With interest rates at historic lows and demand for jobs in key sectors at an all-time high, today’s economic climate offers an unprecedented opportunity to make the most cost-effective investment in FVTC’s facilities and infrastructure.
High job demand among employers in public safety, healthcare, agriculture, and transportation has fueled rapid increases in enrollment, making FVTC the leader among technical colleges statewide in the number of students served.
The ability of employers to sustain new job growth depends on their access to a skilled workforce. Approving the referendum will allow FVTC to continue to grow with the times and to give its graduates and their employers the competitive edge needed in today’s economy.
FVTC: A Legacy of Fiscal Stewardship That Spurs Regional Job Growth and Economic Development
Despite the fact that state aid has been frozen since 2003, the College has maintained a tax-levy rate of under 5% while continuing to maintain programs that promote entrepreneurship and job creation and provide employers with the skilled workforce needed to fuel economic development.
The Referendum Directly Benefits the Communities Served by FVTC
Every dollar invested in FVTC is doubled in new tax revenue. The referendum offers local communities an additional investment opportunity that will generate returns in the millions.
A single project alone, the Public Safety Training Center, will result in an economic impact of nearly $12 million annually, generate hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional tax revenues each year, and create over 300 initial and ongoing jobs.
All this for just pennies a day, or approximately $1 a month per $100,000 of property value. There has never been a better time to invest in our future, but we need your help to make it happen!
Please join the Friends of Fox Valley TechWorks campaign team to learn more about the referendum and to find out what you can do to help us spread the word and turn out the yes votes we need for a strong win on April 3rd.
We’ll have t-shirts, buttons, refreshments, and opportunities to ask questions and share information. Family and friends are welcome—we will have jobs for all ages and for all levels of time commitment. We look forward to tapping into the many talents and skills of the FVTC community!
